These apps use <strong>blockchain<\/strong> and other shared tech to cut central control. They give users more security, openness and freedom. In this article, we explain what a decentralised app is, how it works, and look at real examples to see what it can do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are decentralized apps (dApp)?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A decentralised app (dApp) is an app that runs on a <strong>decentralised network<\/strong> instead of a central server. This means its data and actions are not managed by one single party. Users create content and earn rewards in cryptocurrency. It runs on a blockchain that keeps published content open and unchangeable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Filecoin<\/strong>: Filecoin is a dApp that offers decentralised storage. Users can rent out their unused storage space to earn Filecoin. It uses the Ethereum blockchain. Users can choose to see ads and earn BAT (Basic Attention Token) tokens, while their privacy is respected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Golem<\/strong>: Golem is a platform where users rent out unused computing power in exchange for GNT tokens. Developers can use this power for complex calculations.
